The Rock revealed on Tuesday that in March, after Elimination Chamber, he made it clear he had no intention of appearing at WrestleMania 41.
Rumors were rampant over the last couple of months of WWE legend and Hollywood superstar The Rock appearing at this year’s WrestleMania. To most fans, it was almost a necessity due to his pivotal role in setting up the Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena main event on night two of the event. Yet, he was not in attendance this past weekend.

Well, during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” today, “The Final Boss” went into detail on why he wasn’t there. And it was something decided a long time ago.
“When we were moving forward with John [as a heel] and this idea of him getting crowned at WrestleMania and then being a heel champion, I knew then the best thing for ‘The Final Boss’ — we’ve established this idea of Cody’s soul, we can always come back to it — I made the call I don’t want to be involved in [WrestleMania 41],” The Rock revealed. “Step back into the shadows and let all the spotlight go to John. Let it go to Cody. Let’s not make it about Cody’s soul or John’s soul.
“Let’s let them do what they do. I called John after Elimination Chamber, spoke to him. Called Cody. And I said I think ‘The Final Boss’s’ work is done. We’ve established it. We just pulled off the greatest angle in the history of professional wrestling. We’ve got six weeks. Let’s build. You guys go and crush it,” he added. “But I think it’s best for ‘The Final Boss’ not to be involved in that finish.”
His absence from WrestleMania 41 made many question if being a part of Cena’s heel turn in March was even necessary. It certainly could have been done without his last-minute involvement. However, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson admitted that his appearance was mainly to boost ticket sales for the massive stadium event. And also put more eyes on the event for the road to WrestleMania.
