Stone Cold Steve Austin has had a lengthy in-ring career. And the Texas Rattlesnake has taken more than his fair share of bumps and bruises along the way. In fact, he started racking up injuries long before he ever set foot inside a squared circle. Austin actually sustained his first major injury-a torn ACL-as a college football player. And it is that knee that is going to come back into play shortly.
What’s next for Steve Austin
The WWE Hall of Famer was a recent guest on the Bobbycast, and while on the show, he covered a wide range of topics. One main discussion point? Austin’s health and the wear and tear of a long wrestling career. And on this topic, he revealed a big piece of news. At some point, sooner than later, Steve Austin needs more knee surgery. Not just a clean out or a fix, but rather he needs a full knee replacement. That isn’t a minor deal, but he stressed how bad his knee is from the grind he endured.
And yet, in spite of that news, he’s still got his eye on something big. There had been talk about having Austin be involved in WrestleMania 40. Per some reports, we were supposed to have Austin’s glass break during the night 2 main event, where the Rattlesnake would help Cody Rhodes. But, as the story goes, there was a money issue and WWE instead involved The Undertaker. I still find that bit about a money issue hard to fathom, but who knows. Regardless, per the man himself, Steve Austin is keeping an eye on WrestleMania 41.

Which, if you read the tea leaves, tells me he’s hoping to possibly be involved in Las Vegas. And because of that hope, he’s also holding off any surgery until after WrestleMania season. After all, if he were to have the surgery now, it is highly unlikely he would be cleared for anything significant in time. Or anything at all, though we’ve seen Hogan deliver a leg drop or two following hip replacements.
