WWE legend Shawn Michaels knows tag team wrestling, and in his mind, his former pupils Fraxiom — Nathan Frazer and Axiom — are the best team in the industry right now.
To many fans, if they had to name the best tag teams in professional wrestling over the last few years, duos like the Young Bucks, Lucha Bros., the Usos, and FTR are likely to be suggested. After their ladder match win a few weeks ago, some might now say WWE tag champs, the Street Profits, are the best today.
However, over the last year, there has been a contingent of fans who feel former NXT tag team titlists Fraxiom have built a reputation that makes them deserving of consideration as the best in the world right now. Well, you can add their former NXT boss, Shawn Michaels, to that group.
“I 100% agree with the people who say that. Right now, they’re clicking on all cylinders,” Michaels told the “Stay Busy” podcast recently [h/t Wrestle Purists]. “Once they committed to being a team, they took it to another level. People sincerely consider them the best tag team in the industry. And that’s amazing praise for two guys in their mid-20s.”
The former singles wrestlers have been dynamite ever since they became a tag team last year. Both are phenomenal athletes who have been a part of some of NXT’s best tag matches over the last decade. But their character work in backstage segments has also been very entertaining. Making them much more than just two really good wrestlers.
The team has scored wins over the Profits, DIY, and Los Garza’s since making their SmackDown debut last month. Showing how high WWE management is on the talented team.
