Santino Marella was one of the most comedic and captivating WWE superstars in history. He was an attraction for WWE during the late 2000s and was very popular among the fans. Moreover, his debut itself was memorable in its own right.
It took place in his home country of Italy where he debuted as a fan hand-picked for a match. As WWE is set to return to Italy this week for SmackDown in Bologna, Santino Marella had an interesting idea to recreate history for the company. And would involve his daughter and current WWE NXT star, Arianna Grace.
In a recent conversation with Maurizio Merluzzo, Santino Marella had a history-making idea for WWE for its upcoming edition of SmackDown in Italy. He believed his daughter, Arianna Grace, who is currently wrestling in WWE NXT would be called up to the main roster this year, after her success in the developmental brand.
What was Santino Marella’s idea to create history on WWE SmackDown in Italy?

“My daughter wrestles in NXT. I believe this year she’ll be called up (to the main roster). So I messaged her yesterday and said ‘Hey, see if you can debut in Bologna.’ “It would be historical,” Marella said. “I don’t know if she (will), but that would be amazing.”
As mentioned, Santino Marella’s WWE debut was one of the most shocking and memorable nights in WWE history. He was a fan in attendance. And Umaga, who was the WWE Intercontinental Champion at the time, offered Marella a title match. However, he was decimated by the Samoan Bulldozer for the majority of the match.
While Santino almost lost the bout, Bobby Lashley intervened and took out Umaga. He then placed Marella for the pin, and he became the new champion in shocking fashion. So Santino’s idea of his daughter debuting on the upcoming SmackDown could also lead to another memorable night for the global juggernaut.
