Iyo Sky is flying high as the WWE Women’s World Champion , and according to a new report is because WWE decision-makers and the roster are big fans of the Japanese star.
At WrestleMania 41, the “Genius of the Sky” successfully defended her title against former champions Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair in a monumental triple-threat match. It was a display of athleticism, timing, and ring IQ . These are all areas where Sky excels.
However, will her reign at the top last much longer? Maybe. According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, a WWE source described Sky as one of the company’s true breakout stars in 2025. They also suggested she gives off Asuka vibes as someone who didn’t need perfect English and used their raw charisma and gifts to connect with audiences.
“She’s got a ridiculously good work rate. Everyone loves working with her,” the source claimed. “No one has a problem making her look good , they want her to look good. Matches are built around her because she delivers every time.”
Sky’s title run has had some great matches. After WrestleMania, Sky faced NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer on Raw. The match ended in a DQ after Roxanne Perez and Giulia interfered. Still, it was another good showing for Sky, who has consistently delivered in big moments.
With internal support and more spotlight, Iyo Sky’s latest title run could be a memorable one.
