Bobby Lashley Reveals Major Reason Behind His Expected Departure From WWE

Bobby Lashley is expected to end his run with WWE very soon, and he recently revealed a major reason behind the end of his second stint with the company.

Bobby Lashley has had a memorable second tenure with WWE. While it made an impact during his original stint, it pails in comparison to the success he’s had the second time around. Over the last six years, he has achieved many major goals and became one of the few African-American men to ever be a WWE Champion.

However, over the last six months, his role in the company has slowly diminished. When WWE founder Vince McMahon was making all the creative decisions he was a featured part of their television content. However, in the Paul “Triple H” Levesque era, he doesn’t quite fit the direction the company is now headed creatively.

It was something Bobby Lashley touched on during an interview on “The Laboratory with Plaz” podcast Thursday. And it seems a disconnect with Levesque is likely why he is set to hit free agency this summer.

Bobby Lashley says he never connected creatively with Paul “Triple H” Levesque

“I had a connection with Vince. Vince understood me. He looked at people that were stars,” Lashley said. “He saw that in me. There were a lot of little nuggets that Vince would give me throughout my career and tell me different things. Vince looked at me like, ‘I can tell Bobby works his ass off. I can send him anywhere around the country to represent the brand.’ He looked at me like a star. I like Vince.

“I haven’t really had too much of a connection with Hunter. Hunter has his guys. I’ve tried to, but we haven’t really worked enough together to get to know each other.”

McMahon was permanently forced out of the company late last year due to a sexual assault lawsuit filed by a former WWE employee and love interest. Since then, Levesque has secured a firm and complete grasp on the creative direction of the WWE product.

Various rumors have suggested Bobby Lashley is on AEW’s radar and they will likely have discussions once he hits free agency.
