What could’ve been one of the biggest celebrity crossovers in WWE history is now looking like a missed opportunity. According to multiple sources, rapper Travis Scott was originally supposed to appear at Money in the Bank. But plans fell apart after R-Truth made his surprise return.
In a recent Q&A, WrestleVotes revealed that WWE had big plans for Travis Scott’s debut at Money in the Bank. Including merchandise with Scott’s logo already designed.
“He was planned to be at Money in the Bank. I can go as far as to tell you guys there was a lot of Travis Scott merchandise designed with his logo and his imagery, with the Money in the Bank location and logo and date, all that stuff.”
But everything changed after the sudden release and quick re-signing of R-Truth.
R-Truth’s comeback reportedly led WWE to rethink Travis Scott’s role

Fan backlash to R-Truth’s release was so intense that WWE brought him back almost immediately. That decision reportedly caused the company to change direction.
“Then, the Ron ‘Truth’ Killings stuff happened — and they changed creative,” Wrestle Votes revealed. “I don’t know if that interacted with Travis Scott or not . But somewhere along those lines, the Travis Scott plans changed.”
Jonathan Coachman added more context on a recent Behind the Turnbuckle with Vince Russo, confirming that Scott was set to team with Cena in a high-profile tag match against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. But WWE had to replace him at the last minute, after Scott stopped showing up to training sessions with Booker T.
“It was supposed to be Travis Scott,” Coachman said. “But Travis Scott, we are hearing, is flaking. It’s very widely known that he was supposed to be in this tag match. That didn’t happen… If he’s not showing up, then you’re not going to get his followers. I don’t think the crossover worked.”
Travis Scott’s WWE in-ring debut may not be dead, but it’s far from the seamless launch WWE had planned.
