At the WWE Raw on Netflix debut last week, Hulk Hogan was received with a lot of boos from the crowd. He came out with long-time manager Jimmy Hart, but they were booed throughout the segment as he promoted the new partnership between WWE and his “Real American Beer” brand.
“Den of Thieves” star O’Shea Jackson Jr. was in attendance and was part of the negative reaction to the WWE icon. In a new interview on the Sway’s Universe podcast, he explained why he was glad to be a part of the blowback Hogan received inside Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome.
“The n***a hating. The racism, bro. It’s just hard to forget how detailed that rant was,” O’Shea said. “If you look up his rant, it’s very detailed… Bringing him out here [Los Angeles], what did you think was gonna happen? We heard the music and it was like oh, hold on.
“They let him have it and that’s a pivotal moment in wrestling history. I’m glad I was there.”
Hulk Hogan’s Polarizing Return and What Lies Ahead

Hollywood Hogan was involved in a scandal in 2015; when leaked recordings where he was heard using racial slurs came out, which led to his suspension from the WWE Hall of Fame. He was allowed back in 2018 following a public apology, however, fans have not forgiven him. Also, his recent statements which included supporting President-elect Donald Trump by attending campaign rallies, have only raised more controversies.
Despite the heat, Hogan completed his promotional segment. According to reports, he was surprised and disappointed by the reaction of the crowd but later saw a chance to capitalize on it. A source said: “This has actually been a great promotion for his beer, and as quickly as he was disappointed, he thought about it a little more and is actually excited by how it turned out.”
Despite the backlash at the Netflix premiere of WWE Raw, Hulk Hogan remains in talks with WWE to appear in more future events. Reports claim that he recently signed a five-year deal with the company, centered around merchandising work and ambassadorial roles, with the possibility of event appearances.
