Be a pro wrestler is not easy. The job involves lots of travel and repeatedly banging one’s own heads against the canvas. Most people look for another career if they do not get a call from a major company like WWE, AEW, TNA or MLW. To make a nice living, a wrestler needs a contract. In North America, only WWE or AEW can offer those huge deals. Therefore, few realize their dream.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, they noted how the main roster minimum salary is $350,000 per year. At first, that seems to be a great deal. Although, that is nothing after expenses. Remember, the wrestlers are responsible for their own transportation and food. Then, they have to pay for hotel rooms, gym membership, tanning, clothing, laundry and much more. Clearly, working 300 plus days a year means paying a lot out of pocket.
Some In WWE Make Way More Money Than The Minimum

It is not easy to tell how much everyone in WWE makes. Obviously, the top names like Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes are in the upper-tier. Then, we get the likes the of Akira Tozawa and Maxxine Dupri. They are considered at the bottom of the main roster and could make the minimum salary. We are not sure if the $350,000 per year involves the NXT roster. In all likelihood, they earn nowhere near that amount.
Although, there are have probably been a few names who made a decent living in NXT. That would go to one of the top names like Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. Gable Steveson was probably making decent money, but that is because of his Olympic background. But, he was released by WWE for not making enough progress. There are a ton of WWE contracts that are up this year, with Seth Rollins and Ricochet being two names. Becky Lynch let her deal expire this week, making her a free-agent. Basically, talent is holding-out for more money. So, is the minimum amount of money at $350,000 a year enough to be WWE wrestler?
