WWE legend Matt Hardy has advice for current and recently released stars that may have to find work elsewhere one day: Just shut up.

Well over a dozen WWE wrestlers were handed their walking papers and will now have to look for work at other companies. Some of them will be able to quickly get a job elsewhere. However, others may be passed on because of previous comments about the competition that created grudges.

Matt Hardy has had to go into the wrestling wilderness and continue his career outside WWE multiple times. And he has some important advice for former WWE wrestlers who will be looking for new homes. And the ones who could be a part of the next round of cuts.

“One thing I would say is learn how to not be overly opinionated when you’re talking about other promotions,” he said on his Matt Hardy Brand YouTube channel [h/t Wrestling News]. “Learn how to shut the hell up. And just worry about what you’re doing, speak positively, and stop talking negatively about other places. Because if you do get to that point where you do get released and you’re gone, then you’ve kind of screwed yourself up from going somewhere else.

“Pro wrestling is a small world in the big scheme of things. Don’t burn bridges before you have an opportunity to go somewhere else, just in case,” he added. “If you’re a wrestler, if you’re a performer, be better than that. Be smarter than that. And learn how to just talk about the things that are positive. The things that you like, and let your grievances go. The best thing you can possibly do is if there’s something you don’t like, just shut the hell up about it.”
