A pair of new reports reveal some disappointing injury updates on WWE Raw and Smackdown stars Braun Strowman and AJ Styles.

The WWE roster as a whole has never been better than it is right now. Many of their top talents are in the middle of their prime. There are quite a few rising stars in the women’s and men’s divisions. Plus, there is a boatload of gifted veterans rounding out the roster.

Two of those talented and valuable vets are AJ Styles and Braun Strowman. And both were the focus of last week’s edition of Raw and Smackdown. However, it could be their last appearance on those brands for some time.

On Monday, Strowman took part in an outstanding “Last Monster Stand” battle against Bronson Reed. Early in the match, the former WWE champion seemed to be limping from an apparent injury. Nevertheless, he battled through it and reigned supreme with some help from a returning Seth Rollins.

However, in a recent post to his social accounts, the WWE Raw star revealed that he tore his groin muscle two minutes into the match. The recovery time from such an injury can be anywhere from one to four months. Meaning, Braun Strowman should be able to return in time for the Royal Rumble early next year.

On Friday, AJ Styles finally made his return to WWE television after a couple of months waiting for a new creative direction. However, his match with Carmelo Hayes was cut short due to a leg injury. Over the weekend, reports claimed that the injury was not real, and just a part of a new storyline.

However, on Monday, Wrestling Observer reporter Dave Meltzer had a surprising update on the situation. “The AJ Styles injury on Friday was legit and not part of a storyline. He’s getting an MRI to assess the severity of it,” Meltzer revealed.

WWE personality Jackie Redmond claimed Styles suffered a “mid-foot ligament sprain,” or lisfranc injury. But it is unclear if that was a real report or just a part of a story. Either way, the WWE legend’s future on Smackdown seems in limbo after just returning to the roster this past week.
