In a new interview, WWE star Kevin Owens confirmed what fans had long assumed. Company founder Vince McMahon had no respect for the knowledge and memory of his audience.
WWE is in the middle of a new boom period for the company. But for the better part of the last 20 years, the promotion’s product steadily declined due to the lack of real competition in the industry. To most fans, the biggest problem the company had wasn’t in the talent but in the erratic decision-making of WWE boss Vince McMahon.

As he grew older and less fearful of the company’s position, his creative decisions bothered his diehard fanbase. Stories started and then quickly disappeared, certain performers were overpushed, or events occurred that completely ignored previous history. That latter point is the one that annoyed many fans the most. And it seems it also frustrated many on the roster.
In a chat with wrestling interview Adrian Hernandez, Kevin Owens explained his own frustrations with McMahon’s booking style. And confirmed that the disgraced former WWE boss did not believe his audience had a deep knowledge of the history of his product.
Kevin Owens to Vince McMahon: ‘You’re insulting their intelligence’
“Our fans are smart and watch our product and pay attention and remember things,” Owens said [h/t Wrestling News]. “And can remember things a lot better than other people that were in charge before thought they would. Because I guess they didn’t remember half the stuff we did.
“The fans do because the fans care and pay attention to what we do. I had arguments with the people in charge before. ‘No, this happened three weeks ago, they’re going to remember.’ They said, ‘No, they won’t.’ ‘Yes, they will. You’re insulting their intelligence by pretending they won’t.’ Obviously, Triple H does not think like that. He knows fans remember, and he applies it and uses it. It makes the product way better, in my opinion,” he added.
It will be annoying for fans to realize that McMahon did not respect their knowledge of WWE’s past and present. However, it will also make them thankful he was ousted from the company in 2023, and future Hall of Famer Triple H is delivering a product that respects fans and their love of the brand.
