Other than Hulk Hogan, one name that has been ‘trumped’ up lately in an esoteric sense for a future in politics is Dwayne Johnson. This is not new, as there are those, including former WWE colleagues, who have been vocal over the years about foreseeing The Rock becoming President one day.
Experience aside, it’s easy to understand why. Johnson is very charismatic and maintains a devoted following eager to see what he does next. With his box office appeal losing steam, he will probably return to WWE on a bigger schedule on TV and behind the scenes, as a member of their board that would mean spending more time in the office too.

Adding notches of tenure to his executive belt would provide much-needed seasoning for a potential run for office if Johnson so chooses. However, despite his recognition and charisma, he might not find supporters around every corner, not even in his profession. An old opponent is wary of The Great One finally returning to Washington, and for Johnson’s sake, not the country’s.
Knox County, Tennessee, Mayor, and former Big Red Machine Glenn Jacobs has a bad feeling that the Beltway will be Rocky’s toughest challenge, and ultimately chew him up and spit him out.
Kane believes The Rock should not make the jump to politics… at least not right now
“If I’m him, I wouldn’t. Politics is incredibly contentious and toxic right now,” Jacobs said during an appearance on “Going Ringside.” Still, he sees the upside, adding, “Everybody likes Dwayne, no matter where you are on the political spectrum, because he’s a great entertainer, and he’s a good guy.”
The former masked superstar and monster knows all about the contentiousness and toxicity of politics, as well as the effects they have on friendships. His conservative leanings and frequent appearances on Fox News drove a wedge between him and former tag partner Sean “X-Pac” Waltman, and promoter Jim Cornette who gave Jacobs his first break in Smokey Mountain Wrestling.
Meanwhile, Johnson’s prospects for higher office might not be as bleak as Jacobs thinks. According to at least one poll, the People’s Champ could rely on the people to support his run. Newsweek reports a poll conducted last year showed 46 percent of respondents would support Rock running for POTUS.
“That was an interesting poll that happened and I was really moved by that. I’ll share this little bit with you: at the end of the year in 2022, I got a visit from the parties asking me if I was going to run and if I could run,” Johnson once said.
However, he dismissed the idea at the time.
“It was all very surreal because that’s never been my goal. My goal has never been to be in politics. As a matter of fact, there’s a lot about politics that I hate.”
