WWE Icon John Cena Weighs In On If Politics Could Be In Future Plans

Could John Cena take a crack at a run for elected office in the future? The WWE legend gives a hard no to the idea.

Cena will grace the silver screen next in the new film Head of State. The Cenation Leader plays the president of the United States in the picture. However, he made it clear in an interview on This Morning that playing a politician is as far as he wants to go when it comes to politics.

“I just want to make it clear that… Yes, I am… I am playing the role of the President of the United States. I would much rather play the role of the President of the United States than be the President of the United States,” he said. “So I’m happy in my lane.”

The Amazon Prime Video exclusive was released on July 2. Alongside Cena, the movie includes an ensemble cast featuring Idris Elba, Priyanka Chopra, Jack Quaid, and Paddy Considine. Upon its release, it received mixed reviews from the critics.

On his WWE front, Cena has already reached halfway through his farewell tour that began in January 2025. In his recent appearance, the current WWE undisputed champion wrestled his iconic rival, CM Punk, in their final encounter at WWE Night of Champions.

It was a stellar showdown to see these longtime foes battle it out one last time on a big stage. As the dust settled in the main event taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Cena escaped with the Undisputed WWE title in his grasp. His next title defense is expected to take place at WWE SummerSlam 2025, which will be a two-night event for the first time in WWE history.
