His second run with the company came to a surprising end. His release, as well as several others, happened during SmackDown. Not on the show, but as the show was airing, we were learning of the releases. And, it was stunning for a few reasons. For one, Mahal was well-liked and respected. His peers said he did everything he was ever asked to do, and no one had a bad word to say about him-unlike some other former WWE talent. And then when you consider that this former WWE Champion started off the year in the ring with The Rock?

It was a crazy fall from grace, if you even could call it that.

Sometimes a released talent has challenges landing a new gig. Other times, they do not. A joke used to be that anyone WWE released, AEW would sign. That is not always the case anymore, but anything is possible. After all, the soon to be former Jinder Mahal is a former world champion, and he is blessed with a look that promoters drool over. So, it’s no surprise to hear that there is Jinder Mahal interest among the indies.

And from what we are hearing, several are already drooling at the chance to bring the former champ in. According to Fightful, companies including GCW, AIW and Black Label Pro have all expressed interest in the man who recently trademarked “The Maharajah”. It is not yet clear if that interest would extend to Sanga and Veer, his fellow Indus Sher mates who were also terminated. But, interest in one or the group wouldn’t surprise me. If someone had the ability to maximize their talents, they could have a winner on their hands. And if things go well on the independent scene? Who knows, we might just see a third act for Jinder Mahal in WWE some day.
