If Jeff Hardy gets to have one final run and match in WWE, the wrestling legend recently revealed the specific rival he would like to face.
Jeff Hardy will go down as one of the most beloved wrestlers of his era. He and his brother Matt put together a resume that is second to none during their iconic period as a tag team. However, Jeff separated himself from his brother by turning into a singles star as well.
At his peak, Hardy won the WWE title and became one of the faces of the company. But Hardy always had trouble battling his demons outside the ring and it has led to a pair of departures from the company related to concerns about substance abuse.
Now, at 47 years old, the younger Hardy has gotten clean. And is one-half of the TNA Wrestling tag champions with his brother. Since departing AEW earlier this year, there has been a lot of speculation about the brothers returning to WWE for one last run.
The pair have made it known they are open to the idea. And during a recent interview with Tim Hann Rivera, Jeff Hardy dropped an interesting foe for his final WWE match.
Jeff Hardy would like to face CM Punk in his final WWE match
“Ultimately, I’d like to do a really cool match in the WWE. And do the Hall of Fame and all that stuff to really end it on the highest note possible,” Hardy said. “Because looking back at my career now, the history is just a glimpse, like a blink of an eye, when you achieve so much and then you’re here at this point, older in life.
“So it’d really be special to have a killer match. Maybe make CM Punk retire, and then, go into the Hall of Fame.”
Punk and Hardy had a memorable feud on Smackdown during the early 2000s. It helped elevate both men’s careers and made them look like legitimate main-event talent.
