Carlito has not exactly been heavily used since he returned to WWE last year. First he was a baby face, part of the Latino World Order. Then he got jealous of Dragon Lee and the rest and exited the group. Now he’s a part of Judgement Day, and there’s currently talk that he could be exiting that group soon. We may have seen that start on the October 21st edition of RAW. He lined up a match with Adam Pearce for Dirty Dom Mysterio-if Dom wins, he gets a shot at Gunther.

Carlito Made An Insensitive RAW Remark

During a backstage segment, Carlito was in the shot with Damage CTRL-IYO SKY and Kairi Sane. As the pair were going off in rapid fire Japanese, there was Carlito. And if you caught it live, you might have caught him remarking “I need to learn Chinese”. Of course, there is a lot to unpack with that, so let’s get started, shall we? Carlito’s insensitive RAW remark could come back to bite him.

First, the obvious-both women are from Japan, not China. Second, they’ve both been subjected to insensitive remarks from fans telling them to go back to China. The remarks are either ignorant or intentionally getting their homeland wrong. Probably both. Carlito hopefully didn’t mean anything by it, but it was caught live and he definitely said it. And according to Fightful, the moment was not scripted and has not gone over well.

What remains to be seen is if this will cost him. There had already been discussions about pulling him away from Judgement Day. Those rumors also indicated a possible face push. Should that push never materialize? Or if it is slowed down? I’d bet it indicates that WWE officials handled that issue in the expected way. He may not have meant it. It may have not come from a position of hatred. But it was said, and now he has to do his own damage control.
