A new rumor suggests a pair of major free agents could make their WWE debut on the debut episode of NXT on the CW Network.

NXT has developed some strong momentum over the last couple of years with WWE icon Shawn Michaels running the brand. After a period where the company tried to reimagine NXT to draw in a younger audience, Michaels has gotten the brand back to its popular block and gold roots of the 2010s.

Part of that positive momentum has been from bringing in more veteran talent instead of relying solely on wrestlers developed at the performance center. That strategy has delivered a more entertaining product. Also, the developmental brand’s relationship with competitor TNA Wrestling and its diverse roster has provided even more interest for NXT.

Motor City Machine Guns rumored to make WWE NXT debut in October

Well, it looks like the brand will again bolster its roster with a pair of TNA legends, oddly enough, for their debut on the CW Network next month. On Thursday, popular wrestling news X account PW Nexus dropped a huge rumor that could make the Oct. 1 episode a must-see.

“Sources close to PW Nexus have informed us that [the Motor City Machine Guns] are WWE NXT bound. With their debut potentially as soon as NXT’s CW premiere,” the account reported.

The legendary TNA team of Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley hit free agency in the spring. Early reports suggested the two were headed to AEW. However, rumors this summer claimed that was no longer the plan and they had signed deals with WWE.

The duo is one of the greatest tag teams of the last decade yet to compete inside a WWE ring.
