Hall of Famer Reveals How Much WWE Pays In Legends Deals

WWE has made a tradition to sign many veterans to a legends deal to continue their association with the company. Recently, an accomplished veteran revealed the benefits of having such a contract in place.

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, WWE Hall of Famer D-Von Dudley discussed the legends contract he and his longtime tag team partner, Bubba Ray Dudley, have. He called it an excellent opportunity for a wrestler after the end of their in-ring career. Dudley also made a revelation that years ago, this benefit was not available for wrestlers to make money.

D-Von said, “Now, there’s a thing called a legends contract, or a legends deal, so to speak. I’m happy to say that me and Bubba [Ray Dudley] got a legends deal. We signed it about two, maybe three years ago, and going strong and making money, it’s been a great opportunity for us, because remember back in the 80s and 90s, once you were done, you were done, we didn’t have anything like this that you could be able to make money off of. So the times have changed, and I’m definitely glad that I’ve changed with it.

Furthermore, he gave major insights into the entire legend’s deal. He said that WWE was allowed to use their brand identities for merchandise, video games, and other products. Moreover, Dudley added that WWE legends under this contract were easily able to collect checks worth $30,000-$ 40,000 and more.

“What the legends deals consist of is that the WWE is allowed to use your likeness. They’re allowed put you on video games, to put you on action figures, on cups and T-shirts. You name it, they’ll do it. You’re still making money one way or another with the company, and most likely it’s really good money. When you start making merchandise sales, and you get more than $30,000-40,000 a check, I mean, that’s really, really good money, so I’m very happy and content about what’s going on with that,” said D-Von Dudley.

Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley, collectively known as The Dudley Boyz, are one of the most decorated tag teams in wrestling. They have won titles all across the world and are considered pioneers in the business. Both superstars are currently contracted with WWE under the Legends deal and have made sporadic appearances in the past.

D-Von Dudley has remained off-camera while Bubba Ray was recently seen as a mentor on the WWE LFG series. The duo continues to share their wisdom and knowledge in the business while also contributing behind the scenes to shape the next generation of in-ring talents.
