CM Punk’s name still stirs reactions in the wrestling world and and once again, former WWE tag champ Matt Riddle made his feelings clear. And based on his recent comments, there’s no love lost between the two.
On a recent episode of the Going Ringside podcast, Riddle was asked about joining AEW. But his comments about CM Punk stole the show. The former UFC fighter didn’t sugarcoat his thoughts when asked about Punk’s influence and reputation in the locker room.
“You know, I’m not a big fan of that guy,” Riddle said bluntly. “That guy sucks at fighting and he’s a b*tch to work with in the back. Because he just bellyaches and complains,” Riddle continued.
“This guy complains about getting multiple world title runs. I’ve heard from my boys that still work there [WWE] that he is a headache, and this isn’t a storyline, this is the facts.”
Matt Riddle has trash-talked Punk on several occasions, including mocking his UFC record and in-ring work. That said, they never worked together in WWE as Riddle was released before Punk came back in 2023. They never shared a locker room or had any on-screen interaction. Punk has yet to respond.
The remarks come as Punk has come under wider scrutiny for his famed backstage reputation. After a well-publicised backstage incident at AEW All In: London, he was released from AEW in 2023, and similar criticisms have also followed throughout his career.
