Millions of WWE fans have wanted to see former Divas Champion AJ Lee return to the wrestling ring. Well, she might have just confirmed it is finally happening.
Lee played a key role in what became the WWE women’s evolution as a multi-time Divas champion. However, after an ugly departure by her eventual husband, CM Punk, in 2015, she followed her man out the door soon after. Ever since, fans have clamored for a return.
This week, Lee offered up a huge hint that a return could be imminent. In an Instagram post this week, AJ Lee uploaded a picture on the couch wearing her classic Converse-style ring boots. It could simply be her throwing on her old gear for fun’s sake. But with WWE Evolution going down this month, the timing is very interesting.
Could AJ Lee return at WWE Evolution 2?
WWE Evolution 2 is set to go down in a couple of weeks and is already expected to have women’s division legend Trish Stratus. The all-female event celebrates the division’s past, present, and future. Lee was a major part of its past at a very pivotal point in its history.
The promotion will be looking for big angles and returns to help fill up State Farm Arena on July 13. The long-awaited in-ring return of one of the most beloved wrestlers of her era, and the wife of one of the company’s most popular talents sure seems like a great way to put butts in seats in Atlanta.
