In a recent interview, Charlotte Flair surprisingly admitted she knows her character isn’t relatable, and she hopes to once again try and be a beloved baby face. Something WWE fans have already rejected more than once.
After a year away from the company due to reconstructive knee surgery, Flair made her return at the 2025 Royal Rumble. To the chagrin of many fans, she won the women’s match for the second time. However, on the road to WrestleMania 41, fans rejected the idea of her being a hero returning to defeat Tiffany Stratton. It led to Flair once again being what she has been for much of her career, a heel.
However, it seems that Charlotte Flair desperately wants to be celebrated in a way similar to stars like Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. And she believes bringing more of her real traits into her character could finally get her the cheers she really wants.
Charlotte Flair desperately wants to be a beloved baby face?
“On the opposite side of WrestleMania, I think I will tap more into that and kind of try to bring me — Ashley, the real person — to Charlotte,” she said in an interview with PEOPLE. “Because I do feel like Charlotte, the character I made, is not relatable. If I could be ‘Charlotte’ in my real life, I would. In reality, if I weren’t here right now, I’d be in sweats watching old episodes of Sex and the City.
“But no, I feel like at this stage in my career I’d like to pull the curtain back a little bit and show them like, hey, I’ve been this hardcore, dominant b**** for however many years,” Flair added. “But I’d like to also be able to high-five the kids as I walk down the aisle.”
It remains to be seen if WWE fans can truly cheer Charlotte Flair at this point in her career. If that is what she truly wants, she has a very long journey to get there.
