WWE legend Booker T is taking aim at fans going after Je’Von Evans for a spot gone wrong against Randy Orton.

Evans and Orton had a singles match on the October 8th episode of NXT. It was a big moment for the 20-year-old Evans. The ending of the match was supposed to see Evans go for a high-risk move, but ultimately get caught in an RKO. Evans over-rotated, and the RKO spot was missed.

Evans was seen apologizing to Orton after the match. Orton, a future WWE Hall of Famer, took the situation in stride.

Booker T Takes Aim at Harsh Je’Von Evans Critics

Booker T was asked if he thinks the online flak Je’Von Evans has received is warranted. Here’s what he said on “The Hall of Fame Podcast.”

“No, I don’t,” Booker T said. I don’t at all just because that kid was in a high pressure situation going out there and working with somebody like Randy Orton, a major player, a guy that was pretty much giving you the rub. Do I agree with the backlash? No, I don’t. Are you gonna make mistakes in a match? Yeah. Was the finish flawless like people were expecting it to be? No, it wasn’t. Is that one mistake gonna be a setback for this kid? I don’t think so at all.”

A Message to Online Haters

Booker T then hurled a dig at those who have trolled Evans for missing the RKO spot for Randy Orton.

“All the haters online that’s giving this kid hate, they wish they were as talented as this kid. They wish they could do what this young man could go out there and do on a nightly basis. It’s easy to have Twitter fingers and talk about somebody else when you’re at home sitting on your sofa eating a bag of chips and some donuts and a gallon of milk. It’s easy to do that.”

Evans is known for his high-flying ability and creative offense. Some believe he can be a future player on the main roster with some more seasoning. Others feel he is ready despite the rare misstep in the Orton match. As mentioned, Evans’ age and the fact that he’s on NXT leaves more room for errors.
