AJ Styles has just updated fans on his recovery from the Lisfranc injury during his short-lived return match on WWE SmackDown in October. And it is not at all good.
The Phenomenal One injured his foot during his match with Carmelo Hayes, and the referee had to stop the match. At first, there was speculation about the injury not being legitimate. But it was later confirmed as a mid-foot ligament sprain called a Lisfranc injury.

Recently, Styles replied to a fan on X asking how he was recovering and his return to the ring. He said, “I’ll be honest, this injury is challenging.”
How Serious Is AJ Styles’ Injury?

Lisfranc injuries are mid-foot injuries, and the bones and ligaments can be partially or fully damaged. Recovery time can take weeks to months, depending on the severity of the injury and if surgery is required. A few weeks ago, recognizing the severity of the injury, Styles himself said, “I thought when I took off my boot. I would have a bone sticking out of my foot.”
According to reports, before this setback, AJ Styles was being lined up for a farewell storyline in WWE and an eventual retirement. Of course, these plans have been put on the back burner due to the fact that this injury has inevitably delayed those plans. Now fans are waiting to hear more about his condition and his future in professional wrestling.
As of now, The Phenomenal One’s return date to the ring is still unclear. The WWE Universe sends their best wishes to the former WWE Champion on a full and speedy recovery.
