Several Former WWE Stars Reportedly Backstage At AEW: World’s End 2024, Including Baron Corbin

It happens often enough, but it’s worth noting that AEW hosts several former WWE Superstars at the World’s End PPV on Saturday evening.

Being up front, and having wrestling talent backstage at a wrestling show is not shocking. And, we’ve seen performers for AEW backstage at WWE (and probably vice versa, though I am not recalling a good example). Ricky Starks was spotted at WrestleMania in support of friend Cody Rhodes. Cody’s brother Dustin was in Philly for the title win, too. Both are under an AEW contract. No big deal, it happens, they stay under the radar.

Here’s where I call this noteworthy. At World’s End Saturday, at least a trio of former WWE Superstars were seen backstage. According to Fightful, the three were the former Baron Corbin, AJ Francis, and Tyler Breeze.

Corbin was released by WWE earlier in 2024. AJ Francis was released over a year ago and has found a nice spot for himself in TNA. Except, his TNA contract is expiring imminently. While both sides seem open to a new deal, perhaps Tony Khan has other ideas.

As for Tyler Breeze, per the report, he was there to say hi to friends and may live in the vicinity of the event an appearance isn’t a big deal. Breeze has not done much recently, so his was more than likely just a social visit.

As for the former Baron Corbin and AJ Francis? I’d be shocked if AEW didn’t at least have a little interest in either or both. Corbin has a lot of tools to work with, but it never completely clicked in WWE. I maintain that the horribly failed cash-in hurt him. AJ Francis, or the former Top Dolla, has improved since departing WWE. Interest in signing him would also make sense, plus he has relationships with a number of talents already working in AEW.

Baron Corbin can’t sign anywhere until early in 2025, while AJ Francis could be free to sign in just under a week. Stay tuned for any updates.
