At Backlash, John Cena and Randy Orton faced off for one last time. The final chapter of this historic rivalry was heading toward an Orton title victory until things broke down in a big way. Backstage officials and even R-Truth wound up getting involved until Cena took advantage of the distractions and escaped as champion. With such a heated and eventful result, what type of fallout can we expect this Friday? Will the champ be on hand to gloat? Or will a fired-up Orton be looking for retribution?
Jacob Fatu also walked out of Backlash victorious, retaining his United States Championship in a frenetic Fatal-4-Way. But the story coming out of that one was how he scored the win. Solo Sikoa hit the scene and brought along a huge surprise as Jeff Cobb made his debut. Together, they laid out LA Knight and handed Fatu an easy victory. The champ seemed as surprised as we were with this development and wasn’t exactly pleased with their interference. What will the dynamic for this group look like going forward now that a volatile ingredient like Cobb has been thrown into the mix?
Money in the Bank is drawing near and several roster members will be looking to get their hands on that precious briefcase. Last year saw Drew McIntyre and Tiffany Stratton win their respective matches and Stratton managed to parlay her’s into a huge title victory. McIntyre wasn’t as fortunate, failing on his eventual cash-in attempt. This week, the field begins to set as qualifying matches kick off on Smackdown. Which superstars will emerge as participants in their respective ladder matches and climb to the top to grab the prize? The road starts here.
We can also expect appearances from Women’s United States Champion Zelina Vega, Jade Cargill, Damian Priest and much more!
