WWE presents its first post-WrestleMania PLE this weekend with WWE Backlash. Headlined by the final installment in one of the company’s most storied rivalries, there will be plenty for fans to look forward to on Saturday’s card. With four title matches in store (and one special grudge match), the St. Louis crowd is in for a wild and eventful night.
With that in mind, let’s look at what you need to know before watching Backlash 2025 and make some predictions for every match.
How to watch 2025 WWE Backlash
WWE Backlash will emanate from the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, MO, and begins at 7 PM EST/4 PM PST. Be sure to take note of that special start time. This weekend’s premium live event can be watched via streaming on Peacock. Check with Peacock for subscription prices and packages.
WWE Backlash Card and Predictions
This match is sure to set the crowd on fire as two of the most popular wrestlers on the roster will clash for the IC Title. That’s especially surprising to say about ‘Dirty Dom,‘ but he has been on a roll lately, and the crowd has been eating it up. Expect his hot streak to continue here as he finds a way to leave St. Louis with the title.
It’s a shame it will have to come at the expense of the equally hot Penta. But we can expect some shenanigans from members of The Judgment Day looming over the proceedings, so that should protect Penta coming out of this one.
Women’s Intercontinental Championship Match: Becky Lynch vs. Lyra Valkyria

This feud has quickly ignited in the past couple of weeks and has done wonders for Lyra. The champ has looked strong and confident, which is no small feat when up against a living legend like Becky Lynch. The number one priority in this bout should be to elevate Lyra Valkyria. So I see her retaining, possibly with an appearance from Bayley. The only scenario I’d be happy with a Lynch win is if it prolongs the feud with ‘The Valkyrie’ getting the big win at a future event.
Pat McAfee vs. Gunther

Well, I guess they needed to do something to keep Gunther busy and out of the title picture. So he gets a special attraction match at WWE Backlash versus Pat McAfee, who has been getting plenty of mic time to state his case on Raw over the past few weeks. It shouldn’t do him much good here, and Gunther should win decisively.
The only question for this one is whether it will set up the long-rumored return of Goldberg to confront ‘The Ring General’ and lead to a potential big-money match.
United States Championship Fatal-4-Way Match: LA Knight vs. Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu

Big-time show-stealer alert with this one. Four dependable, uber-talented superstars are set to throw down for the U.S. Title. Expect the action to be hard-hitting, with each competitor leaving their mark both literally and figuratively. I’m sure everyone will have their chance to shine, but the result shouldn’t be in doubt: Jacob Fatu retains. He’s way too hot to lose the title so soon. And if the rumors of Drew McIntyre heading to Hollywood for a film role are true, he’d be the prime candidate to eat the pin.
Undisputed WWE Championship Match: Randy Orton vs. John Cena

When John Cena announced his retirement tour, we knew he’d need to get one more bout with his fiercest rival. And the stage has been set at WWE Backlash in grand fashion on Randy Orton’s home turf. Fans have seen this confrontation numerous times, so we know what to expect. But this being billed as ‘One Last Time’ does lend it a big-match feel.
Nevertheless, Cena should be retaining here. His heel title run is just getting started, and he has plenty more boxes to check on his tour. This should be a nice capper on their feud, though.
