The 2025 Royal Rumble is finally here. The massive event that kicks off the “Road to WrestleMania” takes place this Saturday and is set up to be one of the biggest ever. The card only has a few matches as of Thursday, which probably indicates there will be a heavy focus on key storytelling in the two Royal Rumble matches.
With all of that in mind, let’s take a look at the card for this weekend’s WWE premium live event and make some bold predictions for who will get big victories and punch their tickets to championship matches at WrestleMania 41.

DIY vs. Motor City Machine Guns: 2 Out Of 3 Falls For WWE Tag Team Title Match

This year’s Rumble will likely open up with what should be an outstanding matchup when WWE Tag Team Champions DIY take on former titlists the Motor City Machine Guns. However, the clash won’t be a regular match. Instead, it will be a two-out-of-three falls bout. This will give the two teams to tell an engrossing story to decide who are the champs on the “Road to WrestleMania.”
Having Tomaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano turn heel was a much-needed move for the NXT legends. While it would not be shocking if the Machine Guns regained the titles this weekend, it just feels too early for DIY to lose their gold after their first reign as champs ended so quickly last year. Look for them to retain and continue the storyline of a building rivalry with Pretty Deadly. Winner: DIY

Women’s 2025 WWE Royal Rumble Match

This year’s Women’s Royal Rumble match is wide open. And that is what makes it even more interesting than the men’s match each year. Usually in the men’s battle royale fans will have a sense of who is being set up for a top match at WrestleMania. That is rarely the case for the women’s match and 2025 is no different.
With Tiffany Stratton and Rhea Ripley holding gold, they are both not options. Bayley is not going to win it for a second year in a row. Liv Morgan and Nia Jax got a lot of focus in 2024 but this is a new year. At this point, Charlotte Flair or Becky Lynch seem like the early favorites to win in their returns. However, that possibility has not been well set up. So we are going in a different direction and picking Bianca Belair to shock WWE fans and win her first Royal Rumble. Winner: Bianca Belair

Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens: Ladder Match For WWE Undisputed Title

The ugly and violent feud between former friends Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens will come to an end this weekend. And while it has been entertaining, the rivalry has run its course and both need to go in different directions. But the duo is ending their feud in one of the best ways possible, a ladder match.
This match is sure to be very entertaining and Kevin Owens will take some major bumps during the match. While the company has hinted at Sami Zayn perhaps helping his long-time bestie upset Rhodes, chances are he doesn’t and that sets up an Owens vs. Zayn match at WrestleMania. The “American Nightmare” is NOT losing his belt this close to WrestleMania. Winner: Cody Rhodes

Men’s 2025 Royal Rumble Match

This is arguably the most stacked WWE Royal Rumble in company history. CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Solo Sikoa, Logan Paul, John Cena, and possibly Randy Orton and AJ Styles may be special surprises for the match. Expect this one to have multiple storylines created in it that set up matches at ‘Mania.
There have been rumblings Cena is the internal favorite to tie Steve Austin for a record third win. However, the storyline for that hasn’t been set up since he made an appearance at the Raw on Netflix debut. And it would not fit the story the WWE icon is crafting for his final year in the industry. Furthermore, Reigns winning and getting right back into the title picture isn’t the direction to go.
That is why it just feels like this is CM Punk’s year to win his first Rumble and go on to headline WrestleMania for the first time in April.
