After weeks of hype building, the “Showcase of the Immortals” is nearly here and that’s why it is a perfect time to make some Wrestlemania 40 predictions.
There are just a few days left on the Road to Wrestlemania 40 and boy has the journey been exciting. The ongoing storyline between Cody Rhodes and The Bloodline is hitting new peaks and is setting up a pair of exciting main events for Nights 1 and 2 of the event. However, there are quite a few other fascinating matchups on the card for the 40th edition of the iconic yearly event.

World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins will also be pulling double duty on Wrestlemania weekend when he looks to move to 3-0 in title defenses against Drew McIntyre. The unified tag team titles will be on the line in a jam-pack ladder match. Both the women’s championships will be up for grabs in emotional matchups, and fan favorites like Sami Zayn and LA Knight will also be in high-profile bouts.
With all of that in mind, let’s make some bold Wrestlemania 40 predictions for the event on April 6 and 7.
The Bloodline reigns supreme on Wrestlemania Night 1
One of the most highly anticipated matches on this year’s card is The Rock teaming up with cousin Roman Reigns to take on Rollins and Rhodes in the main event of Night 1. A victory for the two heroes means the Bloodline will be banned from ringside in the Night 2 main event title match. However, if the bad guys win it will be “Bloodline Rules” and all bets are off in the April 7 headliner.
Considering how Rhodes’ story has gone thus far, having him overcome everything to bring down the Roman Empire is the best way to go storyline-wise and will set the stage for an absolutely bonkers Night 2 main event (which we will get to shortly).
Look for the deck to be stacked against Rhodes and The Rock to earn the pinfall to set up a future match with “The American Nightmare.”
Gunther turns away Sami Zayn in an instant classic to continue his historic reign
Gunther has elevated the Intercontinental title to its classic levels during his year-long reign as champion. But similar to Roman Reigns, the Austrian is long overdue for a loss and the belt needs to get a new holder. Furthermore, the storyline WWE is building of Sami Zayn as the ultimate underdog seems to set up a title change.
But as great as the man who headlined Night 1 of Wrestlemania 39 is, he will not be the one to end Gunther’s historic reign. At this point, chances are the champ holds on to the strap at least to the company’s premium live event in Berlin this summer.
Prediction: Gunther retains Intercontinental title
New Catch Republic became the new tag champions
Over the last couple of months, the WWE has made a concerted effort to build up the New Catch Republic team of Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne. They nearly beat Judgement Day at Elimination Chamber in February and it seems like a matter of time before they get those tag titles.
While Awesome Truth getting all the belts after what should be a wild ladder match would be a feel-good moment, NCR is the right way to go and the company has made a thing of making the right moves for the last year.
Prediction: New Catch Republic win tag titles
Rhea Ripley retains while Bayley gets a long overdue title win
Rhea Ripley is another long-reigning champion who needs to hand over the belt to a new challenger. However, that moment is not coming at Wrestlemania 40, especially with Becky Lynch admitting her contract expires in a couple of months. Furthermore, the Australian is getting some sizable babyface reactions of late and it just feels like she is set to make a turn soon and will do so as the champ.
However, our Wrestlemania 40 predictions do see a new women’s champion being crowned at the event. Bayley has been deserving of a title run for a long time and there is no better time than Wrestlemania as she topples former friend and long-reigning champ Iyo Sky. Bayley getting gold back on her waist will be one of the true feel-good moments this year.
Prediction: Rhea Ripley defends Raw women’s title, Bayley wins Smackdown women’s belt
Drew McIntyre gets his dream turned into a nightmare by Damian Priest
The Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre feud is only continuing after CM Punk suffered a torn tricep at this year’s Royal Rumble. However, as tired as it was, the company has done a solid job of keeping the rivalry interesting with the inclusion of Punk, who will serve as a commentator for this match.

McIntyre should lose for the same reason that Lynch does in her title match — an unclear contract situation. But it seems like the perfect storyline opportunity to allow him to get his Wrestlemania moment in front of fans but secure the belt’s future with a well-timed Money in the Bank cash-in by Damian Priest. It would be a shocking swerve and serve many purposes to set up some storylines following the event.
Prediction: Drew McIntyre wins World Heavyweight title, loses it to Damian Priest after cash-in
Cody Rhodes finally finishes the story with the help of some WWE icons
After what happened last year, Cody Rhodes winning on Night 2 is far from a guarantee. If he and Rollins win on Night 1 fans should be worried. However, the best storyline would be for the deck to be stacked against him and to overcome every single thing that could be thrown at him. Plus, this storyline has very much been about needing help and bonds.
The Bloodline has a whole family helping Reigns stay champion. It makes perfect sense for Rhodes to get even more help to end his title run, and rumors have suggested the likes of John Cena, Steve Austin, and even Hulk Hogan could make appearances at the event. To end such a legendary reign at the 40th edition of the event there needs to be a wild and unpredictable finish that sends fans home happy.
Expect one of the wildest finales in Wrestlemania history on April 7.
