Mike Tyson’s Storied History with WWE

In 1998, Mike Tyson made a memorable appearance in the WWE at WrestleMania XIV. He was brought in as the special enforcer for the main event between “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels. Before the match, Tyson aligned himself with Michaels’ group—D-Generation X—and the fans believed he was with them. But during the match, Tyson surprised everyone by counting the pinfall for Austin and helping him win the WWE Championship.

After the bout finished, Michaels confronted Tyson, and Tyson knocked him out, and it was clear he was with Austin. This unexpected turn not only made a new champion but also brought mainstream attention to the WWE and was a pivotal moment in wrestling history.

In addition to his WWE appearances, “The Baddest Man on the Planet” has also been involved with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). In May 2020, he showed up at AEW’s Double or Nothing and presented the inaugural TNT Championship to Cody after he beat Lance Archer. His appearance was a big deal for AEW —as it was still in its early stages.

Mike Tyson returned to AEW in April 2021 as a special guest enforcer for a Chris Jericho vs. Dax Harwood match on Dynamite and even interfered during the match. Tyson was back in AEW in November 2022 and joined the commentary team for an Orange Cassidy vs. Katsuyori Shibata match on AEW Rampage.
