The moment many fans have been waiting for has finally arrived. Rey Fenix has hit the market as a free agent. The saga regarding his AEW status has been playing out for quite some time, and reports are now stating he is free and clear and the expectation is that he’ll wind up in WWE very soon.
If that is true, several superstars on the WWE roster would make for fantastic match-ups with Penta’s brother. Below, we highlight five of the ones we would love to see in the near future.

5. Rey Mysterio
Naturally, if WWE is bringing in one of the best luchadors on the planet, he should cross paths with perhaps the greatest luchador of all time. These two have crossed paths before, most notably in Lucha Underground as part of Aztec Warfare. But they’ve never faced each other in 1-on-1 action. To have them square off in a WWE ring would be massive for Lucha fans.

4. Dominik Mysterio
On the flip side of the Mysterio coin, we have “Dirty Dom”. One of the most hated men on the roster, he’d be a natural adversary for the ever-popular Fenix. A feud where Rey Fenix has to deal with members of The Judgment Day would lead to a variety of fun match-ups that could eat up plenty of screen time on a weekly basis.

3. Braun Strowman
Who doesn’t love a good David vs. Goliath bout? And Goliaths don’t come much bigger than “The Monster of All Monsters”. With Fenix’s fast-paced, athletic style and Strowman’s massive frame and explosive move-set, they would make for a fantastic clash of styles. I could easily see this being a super-entertaining Money in the Bank qualifier.
2. Motor City Machine Guns
Fenix’s brother Penta got a head start and has already been causing massive waves in WWE. And if they’ll both be on the roster, one has to figure a Lucha Bros. reunion would be in order at some point. Several teams would make for fantastic opponents, but the one we’d personally love to see most is MCMG. Two of the greatest teams of this generation mixing it up for our viewing pleasure.

1. AJ Styles
Even though he is still performing at a high level, we all know there are precious few matches left in the career of “The Phenomenal One”. The man who made his name by being one of the most athletically gifted wrestlers of all time would be well served to square off, at least once, with the equally gifted Rey Fenix. Whatever the scenario may end up being, fans would surely get an all-time classic.
