Reports claimed WWE wanted to bring AAA star Mr. Iguana to their roster. However, follow-up rumors reveal that it may not be completely accurate.
Earlier this month, WWE produced a rare co-promoted event with AAA. The legendary Mexican promotion they acquired in April. One of the biggest standouts from the show was the one and only Mr. Iguana. The luchador with a painted face immediately captured the interest of the company through his unique wrestling style that includes a stuffed animal named La Yesca.
Early this week, a translated interview with Mr. Iguana revealed that the company was so high on the AAA star’s performance that they wanted to make him a part of their main roster. However, a new report claims that it is false. But he could make some occasional appearances.

Fightful Select reports that the deal Mr. Iguana mentioned in that recent interview is indeed close to being finalized. However, it is to make appearances in WWE as a representative of AAA.
“There was some confusion as to Iguana’s immediate status as he did an interview claiming he was going to the main roster,” Fightful reported. “The interview was later edited, and there were claims he didn’t say it, but he did. We’ve not heard anything on whether or not he had heat in the company for the comments.”
With WWE recently purchasing AAA, it makes more sense for Mr. Iguana to stay in the promotion. At least for the time being. Having him appear on WWE television can expand his brand and potentially funnel viewers to AAA content in the months and years ahead.
