WWE Reportedly ‘Has Plans’ For Goldberg’s Return: Predicting 4 Matches And Storylines

WWE reportedly has future plans for Goldberg, but what could be in store for the WWE Hall of Famer?

During a recent edition of Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass Q&A, WrestleVotes revealed that WWE will be doing something with Goldberg in the near future. It isn’t known at this time whether or not the former WCW star will be involved in the Crown Jewel 2024 PLE.

While plans for Goldberg are unknown at this time, there are a few directions WWE can go with the polarizing legend. Soon to be 58 years old, Goldberg still has name recognition and WWE would be wise to capitalize in a way that doesn’t hinder Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s creative plans.

Goldberg vs. Gunther

The most obvious choice for Goldberg would be to do something involving the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther. During the Bad Blood PLE earlier this month, Goldberg hopped the barricade to confront “The Ring General” after some harsh words were said by Monday Night Raw’s top male titleholder.

If WWE hopes to book a match between the two, then it’s possible that Goldberg costs Gunther his match with Cody Rhodes for the inaugural WWE Crown Jewel Championship. It’s likely that if this scenario occurs, then a match between Gunther and Goldberg wouldn’t happen right away. WWE has already teased Damian Priest being the next World Heavyweight Championship contender.

Teaming With Damian Priest

Speaking of Priest, perhaps he can get some backup from Goldberg in his rivalry with Gunther. If the WWE brass would rather have Goldberg protected, he could be involved in a tag team match with “El Campeon” to take on Gunther and a partner of his choosing. Perhaps “The Ring General” can call upon one of Priest’s old Judgment Day buddies.

Special Guest Enforcer

If WWE would rather not have Goldberg back in the ring for a match, then perhaps using him as a special enforcer could satisfy both parties. Whether he would lay down the law for Gunther vs. Priest or another match down the line, the former WWE Universal Champion certainly fits the bill of being a special enforcer.

Even if Goldberg didn’t have a full match in this role, he can still hit his trademark Spear to get a nice reaction from the crowd. The question is, who would take the move?

Goldberg Makes Amends With Bret Hart

Alright, this one is a little far-fetched. With that said, anything is possible in the wrestling business. Bret Hart has made it clear that he doesn’t forgive Goldberg for the infamous kick that led to the end of his career back in 1999. Goldberg has apologized several times, but it’s gotten to the point where he’s tired of hearing Hart’s gripes.

Hart buried the hatchet with Shawn Michaels, a fellow WWE Hall of Famer who he once despised. If he can put his issues with “HBK” in the past, then perhaps Hart can be convinced to shake hands with Goldberg and let bygones be bygones.

Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking.
