To the chagrin of many WWE fans, it was revealed this week that fan-favorite wrestler Chad Gable needs to undergo surgery to repair a shoulder injury. Which means, the one and only El Grande Americano will disappear from WWE television as well. Or maybe not.
There has been recent speculation that the character could stick around, but with a different person wearing the mask. If that is the direction the company goes, here are five WWE stars that could soon don the mantle of El Grande Americano.
Ludvig Kaiser
Many WWE fans believe Ludvig Kaiser could be the next El Grande Americano. During the backstage segment between Penta and Gable that was meant to write him off TV, Kaiser was seen in the background with a curious look on his face. The German has not been seen on TV much in recent months. Taking on this bizarre character could be a good way to get him back into the spotlight.
Finn Balor
Judgment Day member Finn Balor is certainly up to something and is scheming to cause a divide in the group. He could decide that donning the El Grande mask might be a way to cause further chaos. And get the heat off of him. He has a similar build to Gable, so it could be an interesting mystery that plays out in the months ahead.
Julius Creed
One obvious direction WWE could go is to have a fellow American Made member like Julius Creed become El Grande Americano. Seeing a much larger man randomly pop up as the character would be pretty funny. And a way to keep it within the faction.
Kit Wilson
Pretty Deadly member Kit Wilson is stuck in limbo again. After his partner, Elton Prince, went down with another injury. If the company wanted to keep him active while his partner is on the sidelines, having him don the mask, and El Grande Americano. All of a sudden, the character being taller and with an English accent could lead to some entertaining moments on WWE content.
Pete Dunne
Former tag champ and Brawling Brutes member Pete Dunne has also been in limbo after tag partner Tyler Bate went down with a serious injury last year. Just like Wilson, El Grande Americano suddenly having an English accent would be hilarious. However, since he has a similar size and wrestling style to Gable, as well as a new shorter haircut, the mystery of who is now under the mask offers unique storytelling opportunities.
