Roman Reigns did not have the best WrestleMania season this year. He was betrayed by his Wiseman, Paul Heyman, and taken out by his arch-rival, Seth Rollins. Since the RAW after WrestleMania 41, the OTC has been absent from WWE television programming.
Reigns is being advertised for WWE SummerSlam 2025, which will be the first-ever two-night show in its history. With Reigns expected to be competing in a major match at the show, we look at five potential opponents the company icon could face.
Jacob Fatu
Jacob Fatu had the ultimate WrestleMania moment in his first appearance at the show. He dethroned LA Knight to win the WWE United States title. Now, he has left Solo Sikoa’s side and is his own man. Moreover, Fatu has been over with the fans. A feud and potential title match against his family member, Roman Reigns, could be nothing short of a blockbuster and a significant push for “The Samoan Werewolf.”
Gunther
Gunther has once again reached the top of the mountain on Monday Night RAW. He dethroned Roman Reigns’ cousin, Jey Uso, to become a two-time World Heavyweight Champion. “The Ring General” can benefit a lot if he gets a first-ever one-on-one showdown against the greatest champion of the modern era, Roman Reigns.
CM Punk
When CM Punk came back to WWE, he namedropped Reigns, hinting at coming after him soon. “The Best in the World” was involved in the WrestleMania 41 main event alongside Reigns. However, they are yet to square off in singles action. WWE SummerSlam could serve as the perfect stage for the battle between the two WWE legends.
Seth Rollins
The man to take out Reigns and snatch his Wiseman was his longtime rival, Seth “Freakin” Rollins. He has been dominating the WWE landscape with his new force of destruction, which was responsible for attacking Reigns. The OTC could resurface to go after “The Visionary,” and this could set them on a collision course for a one-on-one battle at the first-ever two-night SummerSlam event.
Bron Breakker
WWE could go in a different direction, and instead of facing Rollins straight away, they could force Reigns to run the gauntlet of his faction members to get to him. It was Breakker who forced Reigns to the sidelines when he attacked him and revealed he was aligned with Rollins. A clash of spear vs. spear could be an intriguing marquee match at SummerSlam 2025.
