Did anyone else notice Michael Cole take a shot at All Elite Wrestling (AEW) during this week’s WWE RAW? If you didn’t, read on.
Michael Cole Takes A Shot At AEW During WWE RAW
Michael Cole is known for his excitement and enthusiasm as the Red brand’s color commentator. Last night was no exception.
The show took place from Washington, DC’s Capital One Center. During the main event, the announcer took the opportunity to take a shot at the company’s competition.
NXT Superstar Returns From Injury
The main event last night pitted Cody Rhodes and the “Main Event” Jey Uso against The Judgment Day’s Damian Priest and Finn Balor for the tag team championships. During Rhodes’ entrance, Cole referenced the significance of the Capital One building in Cody’s career.
Michael stated that The American Nightmare wrestled his first SmackDown match back in the Capital One arena. Cole would then say that Cody did some “other stuff” in the building as well.
Of course, fans well versed in Rhodes’s career know that the “other stuff” Cole may have been referring to was likely his AEW Dynamite TV debut in October 2019, which also happened in that arena. At that point in time, Rhodes faced Sammy Guevara, and it also happened to be the very first show of Dynamite.
Spoiler On Who Will Be In WarGames
Interestingly enough, Sammy Guevara ended up being Rhodes’s last AEW opponent, where the TNT title was on the line in a ladder match. Guevara won the bout and the championship.
Unfortunately for Cody and Jey, they lost the match and opportunity to become two-time Undisputed WWE Tag Champs last night. This is all thanks to an interference by Drew McIntyre.
Looks like McIntyre is set to join the Judgment Day. Only time will tell how this affect the 2023 Survivor Series and their WarGames match.
