A new report suggests that the lure of performing at Wrestlemania could help WWE land superstar free agent Kazuchika Okada.

On Thursday night, the news broke that New Japan Professional Wrestling legend Kazuchika Okada would be ending his unforgettable run with the company in February. In a statement, the promotion revealed that his contract ends at the end of the month, but he will take part in a trio of events in February during their New Beginning series.

Since then speculation has run rampant on where the multi-time IWGP champion will take his talents in the coming months. From the start, AEW has been viewed as a favorite due to the years-long relationships the Japanese icon has with key members of the organization. Including vice presidents Kenny Omega, and Matt and Nick Jackson.

WWE will also be a serious contender due to the company’s ability to offer a massive contract and the biggest platform in the industry. Plus, Okada also has several former co-workers on their roster as well. However, a new report claims the biggest event of the year could play a major role in the company potentially signing Japan’s greatest export.

Finn Balor and AJ Styles could be potential opponents for Kazuchika Okada at Wrestlemania 40

Sports Illustrated report Justin Barrasso added new details in the chase for Okada on Friday and explained Wrestlemania’s value to the new free agent. As well as the fact that the company has two perfect opponents for him at Wrestlemania 40 in April.

While it is difficult to procure information from Okada’s camp, multiple sources close to NJPW revealed that he has always wanted to perform at a WrestleMania,” Barrasso wrote. “[WWE head of creative Paul] Levesque is aware of this and has the right opponents — specifically AJ Styles and Finn Balor — who have pre-existing relationships with Okada, and would both be perfect for Okada’s debut if he were to wrestle at WrestleMania 40.
