Batista was originally slated to receive his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2020. Sadly, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and the ceremony that year was canceled. However, it’s been almost four years, so why hasn’t he been inducted yet?
The Reason Batista Hasn’t Received His WWE Hall Of Fame Induction
The 2020 WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony ended up being delayed by a year. The majority of recipients were inducted in 2021.
Sadly, when that year rolled around, the former WWE Champion had committed to some film projects and could not participate in the ceremony. Batista revealed during an interview with Comicbook.com that he was scheduled to be inducted in 2023, ahead of WrestleMania 39, but was unable to attend.
This is because another movie project that was being filmed in South Africa made it impossible. Batista notes that logistically, it just couldn’t happen because of this.
Batista’s History With The WWE
Batista started his career with the WWE in 2008 and then left the company in 2010. He had a brief return in early 2014, but it lacked luster.
This was because despite coming back as a face and winning the Royal Rumble, the WWE Universe was behind Daniel Bryan for the main event of WrestleMania that year. Sometimes, the fans dictate the card, as we are seeing happen with this year’s flagship event.
His last match with the WWE was in 2019 against Triple H at WrestleMania 35. It was a No Holds Barred bout that HHH ended up winning. The next day, Batista officially announced his retirement from wrestling.
During his tenure with the company, the star held the WWE title six times, and was a WWE Tag Team Champion, four times. He also ranks in an elite group of superstars that have won the Royal Rumble twice (2005 and 2014).
