WWE’s Plans For A New Era In The Wyatt Family

A report from Fightful Select reveals Paul Heyman pitched an idea back in 2019 where talents like Mike Bennett and Eric Young would appear as Firefly Funhouse characters. Still, these wrestlers were released in 2020, and subsequently, Wyatt was released in 2021.

There’s no indication of who Young would have played, but Bennett was supposed to be Sister Abigail. In fact, Bray was originally supposed to be “possessed” by Sister Abigail during his Finn Balor feud in 2017, but this did not come to fruition due to illness.

Heyman’s pitch was obviously nixed, but when Wyatt came back to the WWE in 2022, the idea could have been close to becoming a reality. The WWE re-signed Eric Young in November of that year and had plans for him “locked in”.

Still, Wyatt’s illness this year has placed a wrench in plans. It’s important to note, he still has yet to be cleared.

Meanwhile, Young requested his release from the WWE again this past April, which was also around the time his new character was going to debut. He cited not wanting to work with Vince McMahon in the wake of the company’s merger with Endeavor.

The Fightful report also confirms that Alexa Bliss was to re-join Bray, which was obvious considering how she was being booked in January. However, this too has been put on hold due to her pregnancy and maternity leave.
