What Happened At Hell In A Cell And What It Means For Smackdown Live

Before I start on my review, let me just say: this is how it’s done WWE! Hell in a Cell was amazing, innovative, and full of surprises. We need more of that , please!

Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin Vs. The Hype Bros

The kick-off match would be a good start of the pay-per-view. However, the Hype Bros would eventually lose to Gable and Benjamin via pinfall.

Throughout the match, the problems between Ryder and Rawley were visible; this could mean the tag team is set to split during tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

The Usos Vs. The New Day

The New Day and the Usos took the tag team match in the cell to a whole new level. Not only did they put down a match with some incredibly creative ideas, they kept the crowd entertained from beginning to end.

After an amazing match, the Usos took the win and became the new Tag Team Champions. Of course, this also means that the feud between the Usos and the New Day is far from over. I cannot wait until SmackDown tonight!

Randy Orton Vs. Rusev

One of the lesser matches during the pay-per-view was the match between Orton and Rusev. The match felt slow and the tension between both was lacking for a rivalry. The ending did not make sense either since Rusev was once again pinned by Randy Orton. The implications for tonight’s SmackDown? Who knows?

AJ Styles vs. Baron Corbin vs. Tye Dillinger

After the somewhat underwhelming match involving Orton and Rusev, things picked up quickly with the match between AJ Styles, Baron Corbin, and Tye Dillinger.

During the match, Styles once again showed his talent to elevate his opponents and making them look good. Corbin also played the crowd well, which certainly made everyone hate the Lone Wolf even more.

Corbin would eventually win the match with a pinfall and be crowned the new United States Champion. Naturally, this has some consequences for SmackDown Live, since we can certainly expect a rematch between Corbin and AJ Styles. I’m game!

Natalya Vs. Charlotte Flair

When you put a Flair and a Hart in the same ring, you always get something special; this was certainly the case for the Women’s Championship match between Charlotte Flair and Natalya.

Natalya showed some great strength and submission power, while Flair combined high flying with submission. Unfortunately, the match ended in disqualification, with Charlotte taking the win and Natalya remaining the champion.

The ending of the match certainly means a continuation of the rivalry between Charlotte and Natalya. It could also mean a possible intersection of Carmella and her Money in the Bank briefcase. The possibilities are endless!

Jinder Mahal Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

The match I looked forward to the least, despite having Shinsuke Nakamura on the card. The match did not deliver anything spectacular, only a slow pace and rest holds; this we come to expect from a match with Jinder Mahal. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike Jinder Mahal at all. I’m just disappointed with how the WWE handled Nakamura.

Jinder took the win for this one via pinfall. Naturally, the question remains who will face Jinder next for the championship. They could continue with Nakamura, but I believe a new challenger would be more realistic. I don’t think it will be Bobby Roode since the rivalry with Ziggler is not yet done. However, it could be AJ Styles, providing he does not get the title back from Corbin.

Bobby Roode Vs. Dolph Ziggler

Despite my dislike for Ziggler, this match was surprisingly good. Even though the match was a little slow-paced, the skill of both wrestlers was evident. The storyline was also quite entertaining.

Roode took the win by grabbing Ziggler’s tights, a move Ziggler tried on Roode earlier. Considering the weird win, I think the rivalry is set to continue on SmackDown Live.

Shane McMahon Vs. Kevin Owens

This match undoubtedly made WWE history at Hell in Cell. The pair did not only climb the cell, they also fought on top of it, reminiscent of the match between Mick Foley and the Undertaker.

Kevin Owens would take the win during this match, but only thanks to the interference of none other than Sami Zayn. I could not believe my eyes because this was the last person you would expect! WWE creative has outdone themselves with this match, so I cannot wait what will happen on SmackDown tonight!

What was your favorite match of Hell in a Cell? What did you think of the overall pay-per-view?
