Carlito made a surprise appearance at WWE’s Backlash pay-per-view (PPV) event earlier this year during the Damian Priest versus Bad Bunny match. Since there’s been speculation about whether or not this was a one-off or if he’ll return to the company. WNZ has an update on this, below.
Is Carlito Returning To The WWE?
There have been reports indicating that Carlito’s appearance at Backlash would not be a one-off deal. In fact, many have speculated that he’d be returning to the company on a more permanent basis.
While nothing has happened since he popped up during the May 2023 PPV, there was a buzz he was going to participate during last Friday’s SmackDown at Madison Square Garden. That did not come to fruition.
As per Pro Wrestling Insider, WWE flew the former superstar to the North East ahead of SmackDown. However, a return was delayed as it would have been “lost” in the aftermath of the Bloodline storyline.
This makes sense. After all, Jey Uso pinning Roman Reigns during the Money in the Bank (MITB) PPV was huge, and last week’s SmackDown placed a huge spotlight on this.
The report also reveals that the former IC Champion was spotted on Sunday waiting for a flight from Pittsburg. This also happens to be the base of the company’s medical program.
Rey Mysterio formed an updated version of Latino World Order (LWO) prior to this year’s WrestleMania 39, which tied in well with the Priest/Bunny bout at Backlash. Not only did Carlito return for the event, but former star Savio Vega did, too.
The report outlines the LWO only made cameo appearances during the last epi of SmackDown. The talent is set to join the faction, upon his return.
From the sounds of it, the wrestling promotion is looking for the perfect for this major comeback. Sounds like it’ll happen real soon.
