Former WWE champion Trinity — formerly known as Naomi — felt IMPACT Wrestling offered her the best chance at happiness in the professional wrestling business compared to the offers she received from “everywhere” else in the industry.

Last year, Trinity and pal Mercedes Mone — formerly Sasha Banks — made headlines when they walked out from their long-time wrestling home as WWE champions over dissatisfaction with their run as tag titlists. It was a bold move for the woman who is married to current WWE star Jimmy Uso since she does not have the sort of leverage that Mone did as a multi-time women’s world champion and one-time Wrestlemania headliner.

Yet, despite rumors late last year of a possible return to the company for both, that never materialized and they have each moved on to competing for rival promotions. Mone has moved on to become a star for New Japan Pro Wrestling and Stardom, while Trinity made the jump to IMPACT Wrestling late last month.

During an appearance this week on the “Busted Open” podcast, the new IMPACT Wrestling star explained why she chose them despite offers from all over the industry, and her reasons for making her exit from WWE.

“I chose and want to be at IMPACT. The doors are open for me everywhere, literally everywhere, but I truly feel like IMPACT is the best choice for me at this point in my life right now with what I want to do and to just be able to work with the talent there. I feel that is where I’ll be happiest and most utilized and really get to grow in the ways that I feel that I need to right now on this wrestling journey.

“… I was going through a lot [in WWE] and felt very stagnant, and I wasn’t happy. Ultimately, I left that day because of the way I was talked to and handled. Everything kind of broke me that day. It had nothing to do with anything else or anybody else. I had to go through the backlash and negativity and the lies and the rumors and also feel lost, it really broke me. It was probably the lowest I’ve ever felt in my life. Going through that made me reset and face it head-on and figure out how to learn from this experience, grow from it, and find myself again in all of it.”
