The much-anticipated face-off between NXT and AEW Dynamite finally came to an end this week. While the WWE’s developmental brand did beat All Elite in the ratings, the company’s president, Tony Khan, recently took credit for breaking a key streak for John Cena and The Undertaker during their guest appearances on Tuesday’s show.

Tony Khan Has Been Tweeting Up A Storm

This past Tuesday, TBS moved Dynamite from its regular timeslot of Wednesday due to the MLB playoffs, placing the show in head-on viewership competition with NXT. Both shows stacked their programming, which included special guest appearances, high-level matches, and 30 minutes, commercial-free for the first half-hour of both shows.

Still, while AEW Dynamite pulled in 609,000 fans, with a 0.26 rating for their key 18-49 demographic, NXT gathered 921,000 people to watch their show, with a 0.30 rating in their key demo. In all fairness, the WWE brought in major talents like Asuka, LA Knight, and Cody Rhodes.

Not to mention WWE legends that appeared in John Cena and The Undertaker. This week’s NXT ratings were the top total viewers for the show since September 25th, 2019, and the best key demographic rating since October 2nd of that year.

With that being said, All Elite Wrestling’s President, who’s been smack-talking on X/Twitter all week leading up to Tuesday, recently posted a major accomplishment. See above.

He does have a point, as overall, Cena and Taker have always been able to boost above a million fans when they appear on any given show. Looks like a major streak has been broken!

This past Tuesday was the second time in history that NXT went head-to-head with Dynamite since 2021 when the developmental brand moved from Wednesday to Tuesday nights on USA Network. It also marks the first time in a year that the two shows aired at the same time.

So did Tony Khan speak when he should not have? Or, does Tony Khan make a good point?
