Tony Khan has a huge day for AEW fans with All In from England, but he took the time to address possible backstage problems with talent not getting along.
Tony Khan Addresses Backstage AEW Issues
AEW walks into Wembley Stadium with lots to brag about. Within a few months, they have sold just over 80,000 tickets for All In.
Getting to the show has been a different story. After a great start, AEW began showing signs of fatigue and errors over the past twelve months.
Easily, the biggest problem seems to be the tension in the locker room. Even with two shows, Dynamite and Collision, it felt like some talent do not get along.
It puts Tony Khan in a bad spot. He wants to produce great wrestling content every week for TV, but without the headaches.
Tony Khan spoke with Hollywood Reporter as the promotion prepared for All In.
“There may be some of them that don’t get along with each other backstage or on TV,” said Tony Khan. “It’s not ideal, but it’s a reality, and I can’t make everyone get along.”
“I’m not sure it’s necessarily even in the best interest of pro wrestling for everybody to get along. But, ideally, everybody is going to be able to focus on their matches and putting on the best shows for the fans.”
“There are a lot of people around here who think they’re the best and I think a lot of them have a valid claim that they’re the best. What I’m trying to do is to create an environment where everybody can go out and prove it multiple times per week and create a platform where the fans can decide who the best wrestlers are, what the best rivalries are, what the best matches are.”
Without mentioning anyone, Khan’s remarks likely fall into play with CM Punk and The Elite. Those two parties have feuding since last year’s All Out card.
Since then, both sides have been suspended. Although, they are yet to mingle and really resolve any past issues.
All In takes place today, August 27, from England. In all likelihood, the show breaks some records.
