The Iron Sheik Is Dead At 81 Years Old

Unfortunately, we have some sad news to deliver. The Iron Sheik (real name Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri) has passed away. He was 81 years old.

As of now, there is no word on his cause of death. Although, he tweeted less than 24 hours, so the news is shocking.

The Iron Sheik is dead, was first confirmed on his official Twitter page.

The Iranian-born American is considered by many to be one of the top heels ever. He might be best known for his run in WWE, where he won the WWF World Heavyweight Championship in 1983.

He worked heavily with Hulk Hogan during the 1980s. Hogan was seen as the top babyface representing America and The Iron Sheik was his counter. This was the perfect combination to elevate both wrestlers.

Besides the WWE, The Iron Sheik is also worked for WCW and AWA. He has not been spotted on live WWE TV for well over a decade.

Outside of pro wrestling, he became a popular figure on the The Howard Stern Show. Often, he would rant about anything, using plenty of profane language. The fans certainly enjoyed the entertainment.

We have truly lost one of the greatest heels ever, who entered the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.
