Tentative WrestleMania 35 Main Event, Chris Jericho Done With NJPW?

Chris Jericho Done With NJPW?

‘- Usually at this point, WWE has their WrestleMania main event set. Actually, they often have their decision made a full year in advance. With Roman Reigns battling leukemia and Triple H questionable due to injury, lots of plans have changed in recent months.

During the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted how Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey was discussed for the Royal Rumble; despite the two being on different brands. They have history when Charlotte caused a disqualification in their Survivor Series match. Rousey then made Becky Lynch and Charlotte lose their TLC match several weeks back.

With Sasha Banks earning the right to challenge for the RAW Women’s Championship at the Royal Rumble, all signs point to Rousey vs. Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch at WrestleMania.

“It’s not official that it’s going be a three-way at WrestleMania and it sure seems that way,” said Meltzer. “I was told it’s not official; it’s under consideration and because it’s under consideration the decision was made to pull the match from the Royal Rumble. Which means they’re leaning toward it.”

There are still a few pay per views until WrestleMania 35, but it helps that Rousey is on RAW since WWE can keep them apart unless it is a duel branded show. By the time the Women’s Royal Rumble Match concludes, fans should have a clear picture of their WrestleMania roles.

Chris Jericho is known around the world and recently took his skills to New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). At Wrestle Kingdom 13, Jericho dropped the IWGP Intercontinental Championship to Tetsuya Naito in a no disqualification match.

Meltzer mentioned how that was the end of Jericho’s deal with NJPW, but they are interested in keeping him around. The big holdups could be two other promotions looking to sign Jericho. WWE always likes working with the first ever Undisputed Champion and All Elite Wrestling are already becoming major players.

After Wrestle Kingdom 13, Jericho said he was looking to go after IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi. NJPW hopes to book that match in 2019.
