Shawn Spears is no longer part of the AEW roster and apparently, he might have been one of the masked men The Devil sent.
Shawn Spears Departs AEW, Identity Of The Devil Masked Men
We continue to see AEW make changes. The company is closing in on five years and they need change for progress.
A bunch of names from the first pay per view are gone. The latest addition is Shawn Spears, with his departure being confirmed over the past 24 hours.
Both Tony Khan and Spears commented on his exit.
Also, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted how Spears has been under The Devil mask. While he is not the leader, he is one of the masked wresters causing problems for MJF.
In the beginning, Spears seemed to be a face, before one big moment changed everything. He turned heel and, in the process, hit Cody Rhodes in the head with a chair.
That spot might have been the first warning sign for AEW. Taking an unprotected chair shot to the head is frowned upon nowadays.
With the weapon, he started using the nickname, “The Chairman of AEW.” Eventually, he switched to a black glove, which could be loaded with illegal items.
For a while, Spears was part of The Pinnacle. Although, that was the end of any major pushes in the company.
A year passed and there was no sight of Spears. His final appearance was at All Out, where he returned with his “Perfect 10 Gimmick.”
Major Hint On Who AEW’s “Devil” Could Be
Spears is married to former WWE wrestler Cassandra McIntosh (Peyton Royce of The IIconics). They had a son in January 2023 and are expecting another child in 2024.
With Spears no longer part of AEW, he should be able to sign anywhere. Perhaps, a surprise Royal Rumble appearance, as the number 10 entrant, is happening.
So, will Shawn Spears return to WWE or could he somehow be reveled as The Devil?
