Following her performance at Extreme Rules, Ronda Rousey showed up on Monday Night Raw hell-bent on destroying Alexa Bliss. In the process, the former UFC champion took out Mickie James and several referees before dragging Bliss into the ring and putting her in an armbar. “Constable” Baron Corbin appeared and demanded that Raw GM Kurt Angle extend Rousey’s suspension. Instead, Angle told Rousey that if she serves out the remainder of her suspension, she will get a title shot against Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam. Does Ronda Rousey Deserve Another Title Shot?
Let’s look at both sides.
Yes:
Rousey was on the verge of beating Nia Jax for the title at MITB before Bliss crashed the party and cashed-in her contract. She is undefeated in WWE (both in live events and televised) and is without a doubt one the 3rd biggest draw in the company at the moment behind Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. She is a special marquee talent and should be at the top of the card. She’s proven she can go in the ring and has the skills and in-ring IQ of someone with years more experience.
No:
She needs to go to the back of the line and “pay her dues.” There are several more worthy women, including Nia Jax, who deserve another title shot. Ronda needs to establish herself further as a singles star before she gets another chance at the Raw Women’s Title. Ronda is a part-timer who needs to learn and respect this business more. As for a draw? Fans watch no matter what. Ronda won’t add a single butt into a single seat by being on SummerSlam.
