Reports: Brock Lesnar Eyeing UFC Return

Brock Lesnar’s run as Universal Champion has been less-than-stellar. After winning the title off of Goldberg at Wrestlemania, the Beast Incarnate has only defended the title once. He will defend it again at SummerSlam against Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe, and Roman Reigns. According to various Internet rumor-mills, the plan was for Lesnar to keep the title until the next Wrestlemania, before dropping it to Roman Reigns.

But plans always change. According to the Wrestling Observer, Lesnar has put himself back into the United State Anti-Doping Association’s test pool. This move by Lesnar is seen as a sign that he intends to fight in the UFC again.

Lesnar’s one-year suspension was frozen in mid-February, meaning that he has five months left, putting a return to UFC competition at mid-December at the earliest.

If Lesnar is indeed eyeing a return to the UFC, then that would throw a big wrench into the plans for the Universal Title. Jon Jones challenging Brock adds smoke.

**UPDATE**

Adding to the speculation Pay Heyman announced on Raw that if Lesnar loses the belt at Summerslam, even if he isn’t pinned, he is leaving the WWE.

Plans for the Universal Title Without Brock Lesnar

It is possible Lesnar drops the title at SummerSlam and announces his intention to return to the UFC. The question then is who gets the title? Strowman, Reigns, and Joe are all competing against Lesnar in a 4-Way.

Strowman beating Brock Lesnar would solidify his monster status and make turn him into THE guy in WWE. I don’t know if we’re ready for another Reigns title…reign. Joe had a great match with Lesnar and was able to convincingly put the Beast down at least for a while.

Then there’s the matter if Brock Lesnar ever comes BACK to WWE. He’s 40, and even though he’s in top shape, his matches have tapered off in the last few years. Lesnar is also notorious for only caring about money and not having an ego about wins and losses. I don’t think Lesnar would mind if his last match in WWE was a loss.
