Major League Wrestling (MLW) and WWE are currently fighting it out in the courts over a legal battle that centers around monopolistic practices. A report reveals that this could impact the way they recruits talents moving forward.

MLW Vs. WWE Legal Case Is Impacting Recruitment

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio recently chimed in on MLW’s antitrust lawsuit against the wrestling conglomerate. It stems from the larger promotion reportedly preventing the smaller wrestling promotion from competing in the streaming industry.

Meltzer notes that Vince’s company is allegedly “hesitant” to bring talent from other promotions right now. Unless a star’s contract is coming up, it’s very unlikely a wrestler will hear from the organization.

Plus, the WWE isn’t taking any chances by reaching out to AEW stars. Especially in light of the poaching accusations from Tony Khan’s promotion in the past.

Dave also states they don’t want to do anything that paints them in a bad light, as this could have negative ramifications with their MLW legal suit. Not to mention the fact that Vince McMahon isn’t the head honcho of the promotion anymore, he also must answer to Endeavor’s Ari Emanuel.

Being with Endeavor also means they have more business partners to appease. This makes matters a tad trickier for VKM and his wrestling promotion.

As mentioned, MLW has accused the Vince’s company of monopolizing the wrestling business and shutting out other organizations. The promotion had a deal with REELZ to show MLW Underground, but this ended when the service was bought by Peacock, who streams WWE content.

This past June, the major wrestling promotion made a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, noting that MLW was offering substantial evidence to their claim, but that was denied by a judge. It’ll be interesting to see the final outcome of this case.
